The May/June 08 issue of Somerset Studio has finally arrived, and I
find it bittersweet. You see, I am finally published. But my article
and art are about how my beautiful 17-year-old daughter fought for her
life and died a hero in my eyes. And, the anniversary of her death is
almost a year ago June 15, 2007.
Please don't misunderstand. I feel honored to have an article and
artwork appearing in the pages of this fine publication alongside many
talented artists. However, I wish it was about some ordinary or
everyday thing rather than the passing of my artistic daughter. It was
a good issue for her to appear in, being that the theme is heroes.
The editor of the magazine, Jenny Doh, was kind enough to mention me
and my story of Brianna in her column from the editor. (A few letters
got mixed up in my last name and were printed there, but no worries.
It's obvious who she is referring to.) She is a kind and understanding
woman. I thank her for the opportunity to tell my story and that of
Brianna's.
Please turn to page 50, and let me know what you think. I want to tell
the world how wonderful my daughter was, and continues to be, in my
life and that of her father and brother. I also had to share how she has and continues to influence my art. I hope you are touched by it too.

Iva ~ Congrats on being published AND think of it as also a great memorial to Brianna.
PS: Thanks for all your lovely compliments on my art as well! :)

I've I picked up a copy of the magazine a few days ago and was moved to tears by your beautiful tribute to Brianna. She did indeed touch many lives with her brave spirit, and I know in writing this article, and sharing the beautiful piece you created in her memory, you're touching people's lives as well.
Blessings,
~ Carolee

Hi Gina,
I too am published in this issue. Your article is beautiful.
I have not and will never forget her story... She will live on through your art and through the artwork of many other artists that Brianna has truly inspired.
Take care,
Brandie :)

Iva,
Although I don't know exactly how you feel, I have not lost a child at 17. It is with tears in my eyes that I can relate.
You see the first time I was published and it was because of a promise to my angel to do it. It was her last request of me. My best friend was and is my hero and the wind beneath my wings each and every day.
The thrill of doing it but not being able to share it with the person that cheered you on is bitter like that of medicine.
I haven't gotten my copy yet, but I do look forward to getting it. I was honored to be a part in her auction.
May the next publishing be more sweet then bitter for you.
Blessings,Pea

Iva,
I haven't read the article yet, but will go out and get a copy this weekend. I am sure that it is beautiful. None of us have forgotten you, your family or your Brianna. It was such an honor for me to participate in the Auction for Brianna, and since then I remember you and your family in prayer often.
