A Stop in the Country for the Holiday

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. We dropped by the "ranch" in San Simeon, also known as William Randolph Heart's country home, Hearst Castle, for a tour or two. I will post some photos in the next day or so.  It boasts such opulence, with antiques from around the world! It was breathtaking AND decorated for the holidays, which put me in the mood to participate in the SpookyTimeJingles.com Naughty or Nice, we're listing twice event.

For the month of December, you'll find new Christmas listings on Dec. 1 AND the regular Dec. 13 update on the online gallery. Here's a peek at what I will be offering come Dec. 1, vintage inspired Santa and children image on an antique photo cabinet card, ready to be hung by double silk ribbon. Be sure to stop by and wander through the artists offerings, twice for December!

Tomorrow, I invite you to get into the Christmas spirit by joining me and the many other artists at HollyDaze and Vine in Petaluma, CA, at the Petaluma Women's Club, 518 B Street, from 9 am - 3 pm. There is a $5 donation requested at the door. There will be a free drawing, too! Come by and say hello while seeing all the holiday splendor created by the 20+ artisans. Look forward to seeing you!

The Classroom was Buzzing!

The room was abuzz with creativity during my "Buzz About Beeswax" class, Saturday at My Daughter's Wish. With eight students, the class was full and after a short review on working with the organic adhesive, we quickly got to work on our fall beeswax collages. Didn't they all turn out great? Each student added different elements here and there and personalized each one. Thank you everyone for a fun morning!

I hope to return to MDW soon with another beeswax project.

I will be teaching a beeswax Christmas ornament class Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 4 pm - 7 pm, and Saturday, Dec. 6, at Tangerine Art Studio, in Dublin. You'll learn about the properties of beeswax and working with it in collage work. Then, we'll make four ornaments. Fun! The class is $45/student and you will need to bring a basic supply kit (scissors, dry adhesive, etc.) To register, call (925) 548-8447. Hope to see you there!

I am excited to join the online gallery of SpookyTime Jingles.com, where collectors of Halloween and Christmas art can find their passion all year long! Above is a mixed media beeswax art card I will have available when the site opens in a few days.

    Dani Nelson, of Ambitions Design, began the endeavor not too long ago and the site has been successful ever since!

    Every month on the 13th, I along with 29 other artists and one guest artist, will offer a variety of art for purchase. I am told that people wait up until midnight the day before the 13th, just to get first crack at all the offerings.

    I invite you to grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine and "wander" through the Halloween and Christmas art of the talented artists of SpookyTime Jingles. Join Me for a Holiday Open House Nov. 13

My studio has become a winter wonderland as I create holiday ornaments, gifts and keepsakes for several coming events. This little beeswax sweetie is a sneak peek of what I'll have available for purchase.

• Thursday, November 13: I will be one of three artists featured during Cottage Jewel Antiques Holiday Open House. It's all part of the "Spirit of Danville,"  from 5 pm - 9 pm, when downtown Danville merchants come together to host holiday open houses, raise funds for worthy causes and kick off the Christmas shopping season. Join Colleen Moody, Charlene Geiger and I for festive holiday folk art, dolls and antiques as we sip hot cider and enjoy pumpkin soup together.

• Saturday, November 15: There is still room for my "The Buzz About Beeswax" class at My Daughter's Wish. From 10 am - 1 pm I'll lead you through the creation of a fall collage using beeswax and show you several techniques  (non of which involve hair removal- LOL!). Head over to the the store's calendar , look for Nov. 15 and click on the class title for information about signing up and the basic supplies list.

• Saturday, November 22: HollyDaze and Vine Christmas Folk Art Show will be decked out in holiday glitter as more than 20 artisans share and sell their art. This will be my first time at the show, and I'm so excited to be included. The event will be held at the Petaluma Women's Club, 518 B Street, Petaluma, from 9 am - 3 pm, $5 admission.
