October Happenings - Part II

If you read my last post, you learned how September was a blur for me with the Tinsel and Treasures Folk Art show and my visit to San Diego. The first half of October was no different!

We were invited to the opening night gala of the second of two exhibitions from the Musée d’Orsay’s, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne and Beyond: Post-Impressionist Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay.  It followed on the heels of the first with a selection of the most famous late-Impressionist paintings by Claude Monet and Auguste Renoir, as well as works representing the individualist styles of the early modern masters, including Vincent van Gogh, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Paul Gauguin, and the Nabis Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard. To say it was breath-taking is an understatement. It's one thing to see these masterful works in books, but quite another to see them in person. Just so unbelieveable!

Following this forever memorable experience, I was off to Southern California for inspiration at Roger's Garden and then participation in Glitterfest Fall. Photos speak volumes, so here they are! Oh...and the theme for the nursery's Halloween shop this year was a mad toy factory. It was fun!

 

It's alive!

The skeleton of a cuckoo was so clever I thought. And this clock was as tall as me and hanging on the wall! Then, it was off to participate in Glitterfest, where I met the lovely Martha Kenney and her beautiful daughter and who were my neighbors at the folk art show. Martha creates wonderful soldered charms, signs, necklaces and more all with a vintage flair!

And a peek at my table before the crowds! It was so nice seeing all my Southern California friends and collectors!

Finally, I visited some friends at Halloween and Vine in Petaluma. It was so nice to meet faraway online friends in person!

(From left) In costume was Brandi McKenna of She's Off Her Rocker - whose table display was wonderful and with some serious fake eyelashes was Dani Nelson founder of SpookyTimeJingles.com, both of whom posed with me for a quick snap during the festive show. There were many others I met in person for the first time after conversing online, and it was a great chance to see their art up close and personal. A talented bunch indeed!

So Much to Share! ~ Part I

 

It's been a busy several weeks with two folk art shows, a birthday celebration in San Diego, the Macy's fashion show in San Francisco and the opening of the Post-Impressionism exhibit at San Francisco's De Young Museum, and now preparations for Halloween and costume party. Did I mention this all took place beginning September 18? Now you understand why I've been so absent on my blog!

Here is part one of our travels chronicled in photos. First, there are so many pictures of the Third Annual Tinsel and Treasures  Folk Art show, I thought I'd provide them in a slideshow format (above). I'm warning you, they are gorgeous photos from the talented Sandy Wood of 8am Photography. The photos include the show's set-up, artist dinner on Friday evening, and the big event.

Then, it was off to San Diego for a quick trip to celebrate a dear friend's birthday in San Diego. We went to some fabulous restaurants and had drinks at George's on the Cove in La Jolla, to watch the sunset before dinner. It was a spectacular show!
